The Delphinium Waltz series is the commercial variety known all over due to its full flowered spike with richly true blue colored, shaterless flowers. This series features tall, strong and sturdy stems with evenly situated flowers.

Highly programmable , can be pruned . Featuring very even flowering . Reliable , easy to program and sell. It provides a vertical element to flower arrangements, and its solid-colored spikes make for great solid consumer bunches. Great accent in a bouquet or flower arrangement to break the monotony. Perfect for outstanding, huge hotel-like flower arrangements. Perfect complement for the delphinium Guardian series.

  • Crop Time

    From planting to harvest: 12 weeks.
    From Prune: 10 weeks.

  • Planting Density

    16 plants/sq-m.net or 2 plants/sqft. net.

  • Pre-planting

    Soil: Well drained, loose soil with no clusters, at least 25 cm (10 in.) deep.
    pH: 5.5 to 6.5.
    Netting: Optional lateral wiring or 2-3 levels.

  • Prunning

    Optional.
    Leave between 2 to 3 cm (1 to 2 in.) of the stems.
    If no drip irrigation is available, do a higher pruning. Always seal the wound to avoid infection.

  • Irrigation

    Beds should be well watered before planting. Keep the soil over field capacity for the first week. Then switch to drip irrigation one (1) week following transplant. Keep constant moisture (field capacity) during all cycle from planting to harvesting.
    At the end of harvesting, stop the irrigation one (1) week before pruning and restart one week after pruning.

  • Fertilization

    A general fertilization formula could be the following:
    Nitrogen: 80-100 ppm
    Phosphorus: 40-50 ppm
    Potasium: 150-180 ppm
    Calcium: 120-130 ppm.
    E.C: 1.5
    The application of high concentrated fertilizer can cause root injury at the beginning of growth. Delphinium absorbs small amounts of nutrients at the beginning of its development but

  • Harvest

    The optimal harvest stage is when one flower has its petals straight, when the petals start to separate. The maximum cut stage is when the inflorescence has 30% of open flowers.

  • PostHarvest treatment

    Place the flowers immediately after cutting in a solution such as STS to prevent ethylene damage for 4 hours. Pre-cool to 1°C (33°F) prior to shipping for best post-harvest quality and vase life.
