Information

A great Gypsophila for producers, consumers and the. planet. This new generation of Gypsophila was bred. with sustainability in mind. Gypsophila Tyree does not require additional lighting to flower resulting in a reduction of energy. usage. Very strong after pruning.

Gypsophila Tyree is more resistant to Leaf Miner resulting in the need for fewer pesticides.
Gypsophila Tyree requires no Methyl Bromide. It has an upright plant structure with long internodes to prevent flower tangling which results in less flower loss in packing. Let´s make a difference!

  • Crop Time

The production begins after 22 weeks from planting and spreads into 4 to 5 weeks when the plants grow without artificial light.  With artificial light it takes 15-16 weeks to start production.

  • Planting Density

    6 plants / m2.

  • Pre-planting

Loose and well-drained soil is suitable for gypsophila. The pH range should be 6.0 to 6.5 with an E.C range of 0.8-1.2.
Three or four levels of wire lines support are needed according to plant growth.

  • Planting

Gypsophila is a long day plant response. Flowering is induced under 13 to 14 hours of light, but the photo-period is related to temperature. The minimum day temperature should be of 59°F and the minimum night temperature should be 50°F.

  • Pinch

It is done after 6 weeks from planting when the plants have 6-7 pairs of leaves at a height of 6-8 cm.
Spray the plants 4 days after the pinch with giberelic acid at dose of 300 ppm to stimulate new sprouts in the plant.  A second application could be done at the same dose, 8 days after the first one if there are some plants growing slow. When the plants are pruned and after the bud selection, spray the plants again at the same dose.

  • Additional Light

Needed. Start the light 1 week after the pinch, it is important to guarantee a minimal measure of 6 F.C in the darkest place of the crop area. Give 4-5 hours per night during 5 weeks.

  • Prunning

Low approx. 2 to 3 cm ( 1 to 2 in).. To prevent diseases it must be taller if no drip system. is used. (at 5 cm).. It is advised to seal with fungicides to protect from. diseases.
    Shoot selection after pruning:
7 weeks after pruning shoot selection

  • Fertigation

Keep the moisture of the soil in field capacity from planting to floral induction by dripping 4-5 L/sqm/day. Then reduce the dripping to a volume of 2-3 L/sqm/day.
The fertilization formula depends on the soil fertility. A general fertilization formula could be:
    N-P-K: 100-50-150 ppm
    Ca-Mg: 120-50 ppm

  • Harvest

Cut the stems when 2-3 flowers are open or with 30% of open flowers as maximum.

  • PostHarvest treatment

Minimum 12 hours with STS. After STS treatment, use a sugar solution (5gr/liter) and put in opening chamber.
Store at 33°F to 36°F and high relative humidity (90%) to avoid dehydration.

  • Pests & Diseases

Leaf miner, Thrips sp, Fall armywarm, Aphids.
    Phytophtora sp, Botrytis sp.
