A South American native, Alstroemeria has found in the Dutch Scientist the long needed breeding improvements required to become a first class flower in the increasingly growing bouquet market.

Now it is coming back to where it started. With its vibrant and solid colors and the great assortment, the varieties that are being bred by BALL are recognized for being extremely productive, giving the growers and the final consumers a great advantage at the moment of calculating their gains.

  • Crop Time

    23 weeks after sowing.

  • Planting Density

    5.5 plants / m2 net.

  • Pre-planting

    Soil: Well drained, loose and with a well leveled surface. At least 25 cm deep.
    PH: de 5.5 to 6.5
    CE: 0.8 to 1.2

  • Planting

    In triangles
    Distance between rows: 40 cm.
    Distance between plants: 40 cm.
    Mesh: 3 pisos.

  • Pinch

    The first pinch is made at the level of the first floor of empiole (20 cm high). The second pinch at the level of the second floor of empiole (40 cm high). Thereafter, pinch is not performed unless it is necessary to balance the foliage of the plant.

  • Leaf Removal

    The flower buds that grow next to the main flowers are removed. In the mini series is not performed.

  • Irrigation

    Drip irrigation starts at the time of sowing. During the first 3 weeks of growth, a refreshing irrigation with poma is carried out to avoid dehydration of the plants. When the plants are established if necessary, irrigation can be reinforced with horn, based on temperature and organoleptic soil sampling

  • Fertilization

    Start fertilization one week after transplant. The fertilization formula varies according to the type of soil and its fertility. A general formula can be:
    N: 160 ppm
    P: 45 ppm
    K: 160 ppm
    Ca: 80 ppm
    Mg: 30 ppm
    Fe: 2 ppm
    Mn: 2 ppm
    Zn: 0.5 ppm
    Cu: 0.2 ppm
    B: 0.3 ppm
    Mo: 0.05 ppm

  • Harvest

    Harvest the flower taking into account the parameters of length and color of the button, as well as its opening. The degree of openness is usually defined when the petals begin to peel off.

  • PostHarvest treatment

    Hydrate in solution with STS at a dose of 6 cc / l for 2 hours. Then in bactericidal solution (Chrysal Professional 2, 6 cc / liter dose) for 12 hours in cold room.

  • Pests & Diseases
